Seattle Mariners Game 40: Rangers 13 Mariners 12

FIVE runs in the FIRST inning. For us, not them. WOW! There was no way in my mind we could lose that game with our ace on the mound. Boy was I wrong. Bedard went on to have one of his worst starts in his career and in only 2 innings of work gave the Rangers a 6-5 lead. He gave up 7 hits, 6 earned runs, 4 walks and 2 HR's. NOT a good day for Erik. Or the bullpen for that matter. Had Erik not given up a 5-0 lead and had the bullpen not come in and ended up walking 9 batters, this game would have had a much different ending.

Yes we lost this game 13-12 in extra innings when Vasquez hit a solo HR off of Brandon Morrow. It was a deflating loss for fans and for the guys on the team. But I choose today to look at the positives in this game, pitching aside.

The offense was there all day today. Something we haven't seen very much of all season long. Ibanez was 2-5 with a HR and 3 RBI. Johjima was 3-4 with 4 RBI. One of his hits was a 3 run game tying HR in the 9th inning. Balentien only had 1 hit in this one but he made it count with a 2 run HR in the 8th inning to get the M's back within 2. That's right they had THREE HR's in the same game. Shocking I know.

15 hits, 12 runs and we still lose. This team can't get a break.
